| How does the BM XM15 ES2 HBAR stack up to the rest of them out there? Of course its factory, except for stock. Is this gun reputable? durable? and most importantly reliable???? What's the effective range for this gun? |

I have one and it has been very good to me so far. The only thing I can recommend to you would be to replace the extractor spring with the upgrade kit from BCM. It's about $3 and will make your busy run flawlessly.
Sorry for the double post. My internet connection is lagging today....I swear!!

I have owned 2, still own one. I have never had any complaints with either, they both shoot as well as I could expect them to. The bolt carrier staking was a tad light on this one (it didn't come loose), I staked it a little better for cheap insurance. I'd probably prefer a 1in7 barrel over the 1in9, but cannot complain about how it shoots everything I have put through it so far.
Go for it, Bushy makes pretty good rifles. Other companies build rifles that may be cheaper, may be better, but I proudly shoot my Bushys alongside my others. I have not shot past 300 yards with mine, I would prefer heavier bullets from a 1in8 or 1in7 barrel for the longer stuff. |
| Also, I think you should be ok with the staking on a new bushmaster. I think people who had problems and had to get the carrier key re-staked had bushy's made a few years ago. I could be wrong, but mine was bought last year, I have about 1,000 rounds through it and it hasn't been an issue. I've shot pmc, remington, and lake city ammo with no problems. |
I gave a Bushy away last year. I'm not really fond of Bushmaster CS It may be fine now, but when I needed it.... I got the "Buy the parts from us and fix it yourself" version of CS. I bought the parts from someone else, fixed it, and gave it to a business associate. He loves it.... especially for free. I don't buy anything Bushy now. However, I would consider buying one of their barrels if the price was right. I have never owned anything BCM, but I would go that route if I was buying a complete rifle on somewhat of a budget.

| I have a Bushmaster 20" HBAR with 4000+ rounds through it. At some point in the first 500 or so rounds I had 1 or 2 jams which I narrowed down to the magazine I was using (can't give more details, it was a long time ago and I don't remember the specifics). Not one hiccup in the last 3500 plus or minus rounds since getting rid of that mag. So reliability gets a big thumbs up from my experience. Accuracy wise, my best reloads group at a half inch at 100 yards shooting 5 round groups. Though this is helped by the fact that I put a RRA national match trigger in. But with that single modification that is some OUTSTANDING accuracy. So another thumbs up in the accuracy department. |

Holy shit dude thats funny as hell +1 on Bushy accuracy...mine is sweet...Original Bushy Dissy HBAR...ugly but runs good |
| All 4 of my Bushmasters are pre 94 bought in 93 and 94 and they were GTG back then. Now 16 years later they have been rebuilt with better parts but back then Bushmaster was the up and coming AR maker and were a different company then they are now.I cant speak for rifles made now but back then they were the best when it was them,Colt,Olympic...they were the best back then. |
| I bought my Bushy in late 2001. At that time they were the AR to get if you didn't want to spend the inflated price for a Colt. Colt was extremely civi unfriendly and you could only get pre ban rifles. I bought the 16" pinned AK muzzle break, standard stock model because I didn't want a non functioning collapsable stock. The AK muzzle break actually works very well. If you didn't experience the "ban" days consider yourself very lucky. It was stupid and it sucked. I initially had a feed problem. I sent it in for warranty. Turn around was about two weeks IIRC. Ever since I have had no problems whatsover. It's a bit weird getting back into ARs after being out of the loop for quite awhile. When I bought the Bushy it was a top tier gun. I start getting back into ARs and it's the red headed step child. |

I do appreciate my Bushmasters, although I think some of their products are getting a little dated now. They need a 16" middy carbine,(both heavy and light barrels) and "F" marked FSBs. They are a pleasure to do business with and I will buy from them again.

My Bushies have always done what they were supposed to do The only thing I ever regretted about a Bushy was buying one with a 14.5" barrel with a perma MINI-Y Comp. That thing was horrible After the AWB'94 sunset I replaced the entire upper with a DoubleStar 20"A2 and later used the original Bushy upper as a "dedicated" .22LR conversion upper. BUSHMASTER is GTG !!! |
|
I stopped supporting their business after I had to deal with their customer service. I sent an upper to them and they lost the barrel. Instead of fixing the problem, I got a lot of excuses and reps telling me how busy they were. I received my upper -with a new barrel- after almost 2 months. It wasn't a huge deal, but I personally won't buy from them again.
Edit to add: They weren't rude, they just didn't seem to give an F. |
