Im going to put my barrel together tomorrow for the MK12 clone im building. Well Ive been looking at all sorts of pictures and cant help to notice the "swan sleeve" is its purpose to mount the scope on part hand gaurd part upper and be aligned?

For other reasons im going to use a Larue mount but im wondering why the need for all the extra parts if it could be solved with a cantilever mount.

Back when the MK12 Mod 0 came out, I do not believe that there was a quick release cantilever scope mount.  I believe that was the main purpose for the ARMS Swan Rail.
