Is there a difference in the buffer for a rifle upper as opposed to a carbine?  I bought a 20" upper, and put it on my RRA  lower.  It cycles fine with my 16" upper, but short strokes on the 20" upper.

Thanks.

I know when I switched out my M4 collapsible stock for the A2 style full butt-stock not only did I need a new buffer tube, but the spring and buffer were different.

I still have the collapseable stock on it.

Any upper should work fine on what ever lower with either a carbine or fixed standard stock assembly.Upper configuration has nothing to do with buffer selection the type of stock used dictates that.Short stroking can be a gas problem check the carrier key to make sure its not loose and gas tube of the 20" upper. As long as you dont use a carbine buffer in a standard rifle extension or a standard buffer in a carbine extension everything should be fine.My guess is the problem lies in the 20" upper.I believe the Canadien C7 rifle use a telestock with a 20" upper.

Yeah, what they said. The buffer and spring are matched to the length of the buffer tube, not the barrel or gas tube length.
