Are there any combinations of uppers and lowers that don't work well together?

I have a stag lower and have a Spikes 22 on top.
I want to purchase another upper for 5.56/223
My experience is that some type of mount to move the scope up and forward is needed. I was considering a Rock River vamit EOP because it already accomplishes this. Any input would be appreciated.
On my Spikes I used a Burris PERS oe something like that and it worked well, but I would prefer if it were built in. Is it about the same? My intention is to put a PS22 night vision out front of the scope so they line up (they do on the Spikes when I put it on the gas block, but 22lr  is not enough for coyotes)
Any input would be appreciated

for the most part, no, but I have one RRA lower that I can't fit my Colt 6920 upper on, it's so tight hand force isn't enough to close it

some can be tight, RRA lowers seem to run tight (or mine do).  Never had a problem making them work though.

I don't notice combination issues between upper and lower fit, usually it's a problem concerning the having PMAGs drop freely.

Thanks,
How about the scope mount questions / alternatives
