Is an NP3 plated bolt carrier assembly worth the extra money?
Wilson Combat is selling them for 245.00. If the plating is a good idea is there anywhere else that has a better price? |

That is a little less than what you would pay to send yours in to Robar to have them do it.
NP3 is good stuff, but there are other finishes that I'm sure will possess some similar qualities: IonBond (to add longevity to parts from surface wear) Denny's Guns Chrome (See what you're cleaning) Rainier Arms - Youngs MN ExoTechnology (by all accounts similar to NP3) Rainier Arms - Fail Zero I can certainly see worse ways to spend money such as (insert over-engineered accessory here), I'd go with either NP3 or FZ just for the lubrication properties. |
| NP3 is an excellent finish. The entire action of your weapon will feel significantly smoother due to the self lubricating properties of the NP3. The benefit is the embedded Teflon in the finish. Means between failure for high volume shooting sessions will be significantly reduced. You can expect the cleaning times to be reduced also. |
