The BCM assembled lowers come with the receiver extension tube lock nut "staked" on. I fI am trying to change out my stock for a Magpul UBR that has its own extension tube, how do you remove the lock nut? I am sure that with enough force it will break free but I don't want to damage anything to the point where I can re-use in the future. Thanks for any tips!

| I replace my BCM lower stock with a Magpul UBR. I used a punch the approximate size of the castle nut indentation and peened the end plate side back towards the castle nut the best I could. At that point the castle nut broke free with comparatively little torque. While I could then re-use the end plate my reason for taking the time the peen back the excellent staking job of Bravo company was to reduce the force necessary to remove the castle nut and accidentally twisting the receiver. |
