Howdy all. I picked this AR up the other day in a trade. It's an Armalite lower and I was told on the phone an LMT upper. Obviously it's a bushmaster upper (the lock emblem is the giveaway?), but I wasn't concerned about it since it was a screaming deal. That being said, I put a few hundred 5.56 through it the other day before it dawned on me that it might be a .223 upper (dumb on my part). Problem is, there's no markings on there. I'd love to figure out if it's a 5.56 upper and possibly what the barrel twist is (it was shooting 55gr without any problem).
Any thoughts? Thanks! http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc59/kairocs/armalite001.jpg http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc59/kairocs/armalite002.jpg http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc59/kairocs/armalite003.jpg http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc59/kairocs/armalite004.jpg |

Quoted:
Were you even able to zero it with the front sight that out of plane? Negative, I haven't shot it with those sights on it yet. I just stuck them on there last night to see how they looked. I was shooting it with a cheap reddot on a riser, and it zero'd fine. |

Quoted: Not only the heat issues, but it's designed to be mounted on the same plane as the rear. I have cerro forged uppers from many manufacturers, it doesn't mean it's a bushmaster. Good, becouse MBUS is not supposed to be used for gas block mounting (heat!). ETA: I can tell you it's not an Armalite upper though, they use a different forge mark. At least my Armalite upper has a crosshairs looking mark and an AR. |
