I really liked the 6724 CAR-A3 rifle. With it's 24" ss heavy match barrel, enhanced trigger, free floated tubular forearm and flat top it made a really nice rifle back in the day. There is so many more options today that could improve upon it, but the base platform is solid and extremely accurate out of the box.

I had the R6600.  Back then Colt had the Delta HBAR, and they tested the HBARs to see which ones met the accuracy standards for being possibly picked as a Delta HBAR.  To keep them exclusive, not all that qualified received the label.  Mine was apparently one of those.  It could easily group every last brand of 5.56 I could find well under MOA with iron sights.  There was absolutely no play between the upper and lower receivers without any modification on my part.  The rifle was flawless, but I was offered a trade for it that was too good to refuse.  Now I wished I had refused.  Since then I have had other ARs made by other manufacturers, but none have match the quality or the accuracy of my R6600.

I am planning on buying a 6601C and competing with it, but I am trying to keep my expectations realistic.  There is not a chance it will be the same quality as my old Colt.

It isn't no carbine course rifle. Though with everything else mounted on a carbine it isn't too far off. The rifle is more of a pick them off as the come rifle. I always was laying in cover picking off critters at a far or off the bench with mine. It would work equally as well on a roof top. The weight isn't so bad really bad when you consider the rifle I normally shoot is M14 based. It's more the overall length getting in the way. It's a shooter though. One I really miss having.

The only civilian mdl colt makes that i would possibly buy is a 6724.

The lack of a 1/7 hbar flat top really bites IMO
