| Chrome lined barrel or not? The good and bad of both. I'm new to this. Thanks! |
| i posted the same question a couple weeks ago, mostly, ppl replied that it does not matter. either will do fine. those who had both said they couldnt tell any difference when cleaning. the real difference is barrel life. chrome lined will shoot more, but what does that matter––both chrome lined and chrome moly will shoot several thousand any way. |

In my humble opinion, if you're looking to buy a barrel and you're not sure whether to go CL or CM - then either will likely out-shoot and outlast the shooter. Most of us will not burn out a barrel regardless of what it's made of (assuming good care) - and of course by "burn out" I mean the barrel groupings open up to more than the shooter is capable. |
| I did a lightweight build a few years ago. When I bought the kit,( Model 1) CL wasn't an option. Me being of small income, I shoot alot of crap ammo. Wolf mostly. The rifle had the classic failure to extract. The caseings were sticking in the chamber and really giving me fits. With brass cased ammo, it worked fine. This being my do anything rifle , ( Home defence, SHTF) I wanted it to function on any tipe of ammo I could feed it. I bought a lightweight Bushmaster barrel that was chrome lined and I have never had another problem. I've fired at least 3500 to 5000 rds out of it and it hasen't missed a beat. IMHO if you ever intend on depending on the rifle for anything but range duty, get a chrome lined barrel and save yourself some trouble. |
