Are the KAC RAS direct replacements on a carbine without removing the gas block?

Or should I go for the DD Omega 7 set up

I'm assuming you mean "KAC" RAS. They are drop-in handguards and don't require any gunsmithing whatsoever; they install just like normal plastic handguards (well, almost exactly as standard plastic handguards don't have a clamp).

I haven't used the DD Omega, but my understanding is that they are essentially drop-in as well, but the way they attach they allow for a free float.

Neither requires removal of the FSB/gas block and both are easy to install.
Go with the DD Omega.

No you dont have to remove it. I have the KAC RAS on my M4 and DD Omega on my BCM middy, I like the DD more.

I like them pretty much equally... I have the Omega on my SBR and a RAS on my Noveske N4... The only thing I like better about the Omega is the integrated sling swivel attachment... but I can get a rail attached model for $25..

Both are good kit... but for the price I prefer the RAS.
