I've got a pre-ban Colt 6520 Gov't Carbine with the pencil barrel and 2-position stock. Gun is in probably 90-95% condtion.

In the (2008) Blue Book the gun is potentially worth from $1600-1900 (depending on what someone is willing to pay).

I've seen them on Gun Broker for on average $1300.

Here's the question,

If I can sell it for, let's say $1400-1500,

Should I get a "factory" 6920 Colt, or just invest in building another custom rifle?

I ask, because this Colt is my the last "factory" gun in my AR collection. The rest are custom builds.

Would another factory Colt be a better investment, long-term?

All my custom ARs are shooters, while the 6520 is an investment/Safe Queen rifle.

Investment value notwithstanding, I've got my customs for shooters,

Also, I'd be looking to make probably $500 or so on the 6520.

What does the Hive think, sell, the 6520? Keep it? Sell for another custom build? Sell for  a new Colt?

I'd buy a 6920.

Given that one can purchase a NIB 6520 for under $1100 at the moment I think it'd be difficult to see the rifle and make the money you are wanting.  I'd just go ahead and purchase the 6920.

Now is not a real good time to wag the safe dolly around. You could probably sell your pre ban to someone in a ban state for your "asked price". Dubious in any free state.  The "Blue Book" is ill-informed, and out of date on any good info concerning Colt Ar's.

Gunbroker prices are always on the upper end of what you can get, in my experience.  I've never gotten above what the average gunbroker price is for any firearm.
