Well i made the mistake on shooting some Brown Bear that i had got for free and the residuel that it leaves seems to be hunting me or maybe it is something else. in course of hammer drills i keep getting a stuck casing and on even one the case split in half and the round that was loading behind it chambered in it? Im thinking its sticking because of the garbage that is probaly still left in it or maybe a burr in it which i dont see or another buddy thinks the head spacing maybe off? what is everyones opinon on this? |
| Have you cleaned it with a good powder solvent and bore brush. Were you having problems before? Brown Bear is dirty but I have been shooting Wolf for the last 1200 rounds and haven't had a problem. I would narrow it down to not being cleaned or an extractor problem. Do you have the blue or black insert in your extractor? |
| Well if you have had 4k rounds through it and it ran through it I would say cleaning would prob solve it. Russian stuff is dirty but I have never had any problem out of mine shooting it. The only way I know of checking headspace is by using a go or no go gauge. I don't have much experience with headspacing so I really can't help you there but if it is out of spec I would reccomend taking it to a smith. |
| i use to shoot factory brass loads and then brass reloads till i got these steel ones and when it started to malfuntional i switched back since i had the brass stuff with me and it only got stuck when it got hot so hence the reason i thought it maybe gumming up |

i was told to run brake cleaner through it and scrub a dub dub with some good ole elbow grease but what i scared about is that my rifle is duracoated and i dont want to mess up the coating Then get some Hoppes #9, Hoppes Elite, MPro-7, SLIP 2000 carbon killer or 725, and use a chamber brush to thoroughly clean out the chamber. I'm willing to be it just has a huge amount of carbon fouling in there from the poor seal that steel makes in the chamber, and possibly a lack of proper cleaning of the chamber over that past 4,000 rounds. When was the rifle Duracoated? When you got it, or just before it started having the problems? There isn't any in the chamber is there? |
| In re to my last response to your question...Also check your stock buffer spring movement (pull and look at the spring, make sure it is well lubed and not goofed up or broken) and also take a close look at your reciever in re to line up when you tighten stuff together..Sounds moronic, but, I have seen these springs fail & hang up in a blue moon & cause much ass scratching. Usually dirt or sand is the culprit. Very rare, but it happens. Other than that, start checking from my previous post with the extractor and move on from there. |
