just wondering how any one with the LE marked 6920 colt likes the rifle and why. and why colt was so generous to sell a marked gun to the public.I bought one about 6-7 ? months ago and have not fired it yet.
I will though Im not saving it for a collector at my age. Im gonna have fun with it. about 2 weeks after I bought the thing they came down in price.thats my typical luck. any way whats good/bad why do you like it. what type groups can I expect at 100yds and past . I have just left mine as it came. I have other AR's with goodies on them, I like the simple look of the 6920 and the LE markings. lets hear from ya all. |

Have had mine for 4-5 years put about 8500 rounds through it with minimal failure, (operator headspace issues, cleaned and forgot to relube, stuffed 31 rounds into a PMAG and had a FTF; dumb stuff like that).
Stuck a N4 middie barrel and a new BCG on it and have about 3500 through it so far and (knock on wood) only failures have been caused by me. |

I loved mine so much (since getting it new in Sept. 07) that just a couple of months ago...
I traded the 16" barrel for a SOCOM 14.5" Colt even up. Then swapped the lower onto my Israeli clone A1 20", thus making it "all Colt". The missing lower was replaced by a 6921LE M4 lower from Highland Arms(de-registered SBR) Slapped all this whooptie together and WHAM-O....M4 fever, like right now! And yes since really got into my 6920LE, a new replacement is soon to be coming my way! Yes, they are an awesome piece of hardware....so to anyone asking; Jump that Pony and ride it hard!!
Oh yeah, had to perm a Phantom F/S to that 14.5 incher. |
| Just got mine recently, fit and finish (for those that care) were perfect, couldn't ask for anything more in that dept. Colt quality really shows throughout the rifle, and based on its history it should be one of the most if not the most reliable AR out there to date. |

As illustrated, I'd say that one thing that really needs to go on any 6920LE "custom" is that factory Lily Ko slider stock. The SOCOM is a great
choice and I'm currently running a Vltor Modstock on mine...with full tubes and the rubber butt pad. This will probably not be the end of it either. |
| I really like my LE6920. I have about 400 through it and it shoots very nicely. It is bone stock with the exception of an Eotech 516. So far, it only has Wolf 55 and 62 grain bullets through it. I would definetly buy another and, in fact, I bought my son a LE6940 because he really wanted a rail system. Now that I have my Eotech, I want to figure out how to put a front grip on it without removing the forward hand guards. |

You will probably have a little movement from the handguards, but it's a cheap easy solution that doesn't alter anything. Midwest Industries makes the rails in aluminum. |

One small issue you'll have with those - on a late-model 6920 - is that they've started epoxying the heat shields in place and they're a biotch to get off. You can't bolt through the shields (well, without seriously damaging them, anyway), so some of us have given up on that idea. . . |

Mine was made about a year ago. It's great except that the bolt lug cutouts in the feed ramps had very sharp edges that would dig into the bullet jacket and cause an occasional feedway stoppage. Took a while to figure it out. I used a blunt-end punch as a sort of scraper, pushed it up the ramps hard a few times to round off those edges slightly, works fine now.
Colt quality is top notch but it ain't perfect. |

6-7months without shooting it? ![]() I'd go absolutely crazy if I had a brand new 6920 and didn't shoot it for that long ! That's like a kid waiting until July to open his Christmas presents . I bought a 6920 about 2 weeks before the last election . I've put probably a little over 2,000 rounds through it without a hickup . I've been trying to sell/trade some of my other rifles to get another one . I've had about every kind of mass roduced semi-auto imaginable ,and I've never been as happy with another weapon . The only thing I would change is that mine was one of the last ones that came with the larger diameter trigger pins ,so standard size trigger parts won't fit mine . Mine was made in the last weeks that Colt used them in the 6920 . Now they're made with the standard FCG pins ,so I wouldn't even hesitate to get another . |

Ive had my 6920 for about 3 months, so far put close to a thousand rounds through it, mostly 55 grain Federal. The first 600 or so rounds I was shooting with back up irons, getting used to the gun from distances out to one hundred yarrds seated and standing.
Threw a Trijicon tr-24 on there and have been shooting out to 300 yards. Rifle has not had a single issue yet. I cleaned it after about 600 rounds, and re-lube occasionally. Ive been using Royal Purple Max gear 75w90 gear oil. Its my first ar and Im impressed. Paid $1175 from Tanners in PA. Its got a vltor Emod, MIAD, Troy di-optic buis, norgon ambi-catch, Troy vfg, PWS fsc556, and DD Omega rail. Replace your stock, and DEFINETLY get a Primary Weapons FSC556 muzzle brake/flash hider its the best mod Ive done. Totally eliminates muzzle rise, so you can keep sights on target for multiple shots. Thinking about a SBR as my next purchase. I hope whatever I get is as good as this Colt!!! |
