Hello all,

I need a little help, I’m finally able to purchase a upper receiver and now I’m stuck between choosing the BCM BFH™ 16" Mid Length Upper Receiver or the Noveske N4 Light Basic Upper Receiver Group 16" MID Length. Any information you can give me to help make a decision would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You can't go wrong with either one. I'm a BCM whore but wouldn't have a problem with Noveske.

If you can afford either and don't care about the cost, it's a toss up. I can assure you that anything the Noveske upper will do, so will the BCM. Noveske is offering a deal right now for a free stripped cosmetic second lower with the purchase of an upper receiver, so that may defray the cost a little (about $120-$150 depending on what Noveske blemished lowers are going for.) However, a hammer-forged barrel is also unnecessary. Although the technology to produce cold hammer forged barrels has been around for ~35 years, it's a marketing buzz word that's flying around all over the place lately. There are no conclusive tests or data that suggest a hammer-forged barrel will outlast a chrome-lined one, and frankly, if you can afford the ammo to shoot out a chrome-lined barrel at 10,000-20,000 rounds (depending on a variety of factors), then you can afford the replacement cost of the barrel. You'd likely be better served by buying a chrome-lined BCM upper for $485ish.

I own both and wouldn't hesitate to purchase either. They are both top of the line choices. Get both

While I agree that the hammer-forged barrels are mostly overkill, I have found them to be more accurate than other chrome-lined barrels, especially the Noveskes.

depends on how much money you have and what quality you really want, but both are fine choices.

What about the ADCO MID length?

I would buy the Noveske but if I got the BCM I would just get the regular barrel.

The CHF barrels are chromed lined also, right? If so, I'm curious how the chrome lining "knows" it's a CHF barrel and thus will last longer?
