I just got my S&W MP15X.  Still haven't taken it out to the range, but the fit and finish look great.

I want to have some spare parts on hand (just in case), and read through the "what parts break during a carbine course" thread.  While searching for spare parts, I'm seeing quite a few "kits" that claim to have everything you could need...from pins to springs.  I know DPMS makes a very inclusive one, along with some no-name kits.

Question is...are all these AR parts truly interchangable?  Will a firing pin from a DPMS kit fit a S&W?  Springs?

Also, are there any emergency parts kits that are preferable (either because of manufacturer or items contained)?

Virtually ALL of the AR platform parts are interchangeable.

Stocks are the only thing where you need to know what type of receiver extension you have. them order away or just get a new receiver extension if you need to.

I just have a spare lpk and bcg as a parts bank.  That about covers all the moving parts.

Just my 2 cents
