I am trading for one of the Millenium series weapon light kits. It has a 125 and 225 lumen bulb plus one of the Turbo heads. I am curious if there are drop in LEDs for these.

Overall opinions of these lights in general?

No Surefire drop ins...yet. They've supposedly been working on them for years.

Some custom stuff over at candlepowerforums...

I used an M3 as a weaponlight for a while in Iraq, it functioned fine but I found it a little bulky and heavy on an M4.

I will see how the regular bulbs are, as bright as they are I probably wont even care about LED. It was a KISS SHTF carbine. But it has "evolved" LOL

Can't remember the company, but someone does make brighter incandescent bulbs for it. Frankly the two included bulbs are more than bright enough for "tactical" use. The biggest advantage to LED is battery life.

I agree on the battery life. Fact is, I wont use it enough for that to be an issue. Will likely just leave it as is. I wasnt really looking for this particular light, just ended up getting in trade. Figured I will run it on my carbine.

Is that link specifically for drop in LEDs for the Millenimum lights? I am missing it, if so.

Overall opinion - SF is still gold standard when it comes to weaponlights. I have a bunch of them in different configs. Options for M3 LED drop-ins are still pretty limited. There are some guys over at CPF that have been modding stock heads with LED emitters. The LF incand drop-ins are awesome in that they run very nicely off of (2) AW 17500 Li-ion rechargeables and are nominally brighter than the stock SF lamp assemblies (as well as not burning through those spendy CR123A batteries).

This kit I am getting actually has one of the $195 (list) Turbo heads. I am not even sure what they are for, but I guess I will try it out.

I am just loooking for a quality weapon light and came across this kit plus the turbo head and went ahead and did it. Guess I will see when I get it.

The turbo head is the "throw light" - narrow beam, extremely long throw especially with the HOLA. (See SF site.) It can not use the same lamps that are used in the smaller head. When you get it you will see why.

The guy said that the Turbo head also had a 225 lumen bulb in it. Glad it does if it uses different bulbs. I will check it out when I get it, in pictures the Turbo head seems awfully big, I may end up just going with the stock setup.

Are there better lights out there for the money than the millennium? I mean, other than the lack of LED, is the rest of the system top end?

This is the carbine,  except it now wears an ACOG TA31A.
