Hi, Folks;
I joined several years ago, but was never really active. I'M BACK! OK. Dug the ol' AR out of the back of the gun cabinet. Ordered a 458 SOCOM upper for it, and while I'm waiting the required eternity for the upper, the brass, the dies, etc., I figured I'd start on the cosmetics –– like a new stock. There's my problem. I understand that there are the mil-spec tubes and the commercial tubes, and the Magpul site has some great .pdf files showing drawings of each. The problem is, my tube doesn't match either one. The donor weapon is about a '92-vintage Colt Sporter Competition H-Bar. Instead of being 7.5 inches long as in the Magpul drawings, my tube is just shy of 10 inches. Instead of a diameter of 1.147 per the drawings, mine is only 1.100. The Magpul drawings show a square attached to the bottom of the tube –– mine is a plain round tube. So do I have something weird because it's a "competition model" or something, or is this just something like a difference between rifle and carbine? Is there aftermarket stocks that fit this out there, or will I have to change the tube/spring if I want a different stock? Thanks in advance for your expertise. K-9Handler |
| You have a rifle receiver extension. You'll need a carbine receiver extension, buffer, and spring if you want to use the CTR. It's easiest just to order the full kit. |
