So i had a stock RRA single stage trigger (my lower is a factory assembled RRA lower) that I sent off to Bill Springfield for his 3lb job.

The pretravel was long but there was no hint of any grit/gravel feeling.   The break was alright but a little mushy.  the overtravel was a little long and so was the reset.

After getting the thing back from Bill and putting it back in my lower the pretravel was short, the break was very nice and light....the overtravel and reset were shortened as well.   Very happy with all of these changes.

Only problem is that the pretravel has a gritty feeling to it that wasn't there before.    I'm thinking this is something that could be solved with a little sandpaper or polish but I've never done any sort of gunsmith stuff so any advice on what I can do to would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

I would put a good lube on all contact points, and shoot the gritiness out of there.

That's a good start, and step away from the sandpaper.  If you're of a need to polish, Flintz metal polish.

I had Bill do my trigger too. I still had to touch it up with a stone in a couple areas to take the creep out. If you know what you are doing then take a stone to the areas that need it.

Question: When you reassembled it, did you use some moly grease on the pins, and get it inside the through-holes real good?

yeah i've never done any trigger polishing so i'm wanting to avoid it if i can.   Last thing I want to do is take too much off or something.

I'll start with the lube/shoot the grittiness out recommendation by dry firing it a bunch while watching TV or something

Is it possible to "overlube" the trigger components or can i just slather it on in there like i do with the bolt.

Nope....i just took it out of the mailing box and put it in the gun.

I guess doing what you said should be my first step at remedying the situation
