Hey everyone. New here...Have always wanted an AR since I was a kid and the time has come. I live in NJ so I am however limited on my choices but I decided to go with the S&W M&P 15 #811010. Lots of goos info here on this site from what I can see so far. Anyone else own one or have any thoughts on that rifle?http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e22/mikenine/smith3.jpg

noveske, colt 6940/6920 are also good options to look at.

or you could always get a rifle that isnt "top of the line" and spend the extra money you would save on mag's, ammo, and training.....perhaps something like RRA, Stag, BM, etc.

Or not spend 1500+ and get a Daniel Defense or BCM for around the same price as the M&P and still have a top of the line rifle.

Other options you should look at:
Bravo Company Machine
Colt
Lewis Machine and Tool
Daniel Defense

It all depends on your price range.  A Daniel Defense can be had for under $1200 and you get a $250 gift card towards other DD accessories.  And Bravo Company has almost every type of set up you could ever want for a great price.

Keep in mind that I cant have a collapsable stock. I struggled for a while with idea of having one pinned or not (since I do like the look of a collapsable) but came to the decission that it makes no sense to have a collapsable stock and not have it be collapsable lol.

a quick google search yielded a $1250 colt 6920 located here. the 6940 was $100 more on the same site. I am pretty sure with a little effort you could easily pick one up under $1200.

you realize the M&P has a collapsible 6 position stock right? you can easily change out the stock on AR's to a fixed position if need be.

I'd go with a S&W. They are fine rifles, and they are running a promo right now, you get 5 free Pmags with the purachase of a rifle, just ask the shop for a copy of the 4473, fill out the form from S&W, and mail it in to them.

I have never shot a smith but from what I hear they are very nice.  It doesn't really matter which brand of ar you will buy.  In the end you will end up with BRD (black rifle disease).  So good look with whatever purchase you make.

Dude, you can buy just about ANY gun you want (abeit, in pieces) and modify it.

Buy a BCM Middy upper and a Yankee Hill Phantom Comp and send ii to ADCO for pinning and delugging

Buy a BCM Lower.  Tell them to ship it to your FFL without the stock on it.  Have them ship the stock to you.   Pin it yourself or send it to ADCO to be pinned.  They offer all these services.

This is 100% LEGAL as long as you do not assemble the weapon.  As a matter of fact, have BCM send the upper DIRECTLY to ADCO.  It will save you shipping, anyway.

It's the only way to buy ARs in ban states such as ours.

You don't want that shitty bull barrel.  It looks neutered.  Sorry.

Get everything back, slap it together, and you are GTG.
