Is it common for hammer pins to break? Mine broke in half today, but I didn't notice it until I got home to clean my AR since it still worked with half of the pin still there. The trigger has been pulled probably about 3000 times if you add dry fire and .22LR to the mix.

My Stag complete lower was bought during the Obamination so quality may have suffered a little. I'll give them a chance to fix it before I start speaking negatively of them.

It happens.

Just get a new pin and it's fine.

If you want spring for the KNS pins.

It happends mostly on 9mm builds.

Stock guns not so much unless it has a DPMS LPK in it.

I don't know if its common but I had a similar experience this week.  Shot about 500 rounds through my Spikes dedicated 22 and when I got home and broke it down for cleaning I noticed the hammer was off center.  Well same thing broke hammer pin.  Cost me 50 cents to fix it.

Yep had the same thing happen to me last year.  In fact i read your post and looked at your name to see if this was my old post...lol  We worded the post the same way.  I just bought a pin kit and a spring kit from midway, and it tapped right in.

my hammer pin broke about a month ago and i think it was caused by my 22lr conversion. once the conversion starts getting dirty it fails to eject and fails to feed alot. the bolt will not be closed all the way and when the hammer falls it strikes the bolt on a lower portion of the hammer than normal. mine had about 2000 - 2500 rounds through it when it broke. i made one out of the shank to a 5/32 drill bit to get me by until i got a new one in.

Good spare part to keep on hand. Order 2, one to fix your rifle and one for you spare parts kit.

.22's are hard on hammer pins. Blow back operated AR's in general are hard on hammer pins.
