The stock trigger from my DPMS parts kit was pretty heavy, so I replaced the springs with some JP Enterprises 4.5lb springs. I am doing this for a rifle I use to practice for competition. It is much lighter now, but it feels like a very linear pull until the break. Nowhere along the pull do I feel a point where I can "rest" my finger tension and know another 1mm will fire the rifle. I'm not sure what to think? It is much lighter and is not gritty compared to stock, but the only time I have dealt with this is when I shot a friend's AK47. Very smooth and linear pull and then the hammer strikes. No advance notice, nada. (pull on the AK was much heavier, obviously) Contrast this to my Volquartsen 22. It has a 3LB trigger and it is basically a very crisp "edge". No creep, no give. Just a straight 3LB pull and click. One advantage I can see with the way the AR trigger is now, is that you can't really know when it will break, so it may reduce any recoil anticipation? Any thoughts? |

I've used a DPMS parts kit exactly one time, and the trigger was the absolute WORST trigger I have ever felt.
I sent it to Bill Springfield, and he sent me back a primo trigger. For what it's worth, the triggers he sells come from DPMS. ETA: You should try a 2-stage trigger, sounds like that is what you're used to. |
