| I have heard of a couple people screwing up their rails by over tightening the screw in the for the KAC rails. I didn't have a torque screwdriver available so I used a allen. My question is is it apparent that you have screwed them up. Everything went to plan and installed fine. I would just hate to be at the range when something went wrong. I would figure overtorque would strip it and you would be able to tell that right off the bat right? |

If you took the rail off and put the screw into the hole and tightened it all the way you will see that it goes thru the hole and into the channel that the tube fits. If you tube rides high in the channel you will put pressure on the tube.
You check by taking the bolt out of the carrier and with the rail in place, just let the carrier slide in the upper. If it binds, tighten or loosen the screw till the bind is gone. |
| Just got home and check everything out. Everything seems to be running fine with the gas tube. I had to put an H buffer in it so while the upper was off I slid the bolt back and forth and it locked up tight with no problem. Then I locked it back an hit the bolt release and it all went into battery fine so I figure im ok. Ill know for sure this weekend though. Any thing else I should look for? |

Here's what I did, I had to install my H buffer so I popped out the rear takedown pin and put the H buffer in. Before putting the two halves back together I took the CH out and put the bcg back in. I just placed the bcg in the upper and let gravity do the work and it popped in there every time. Then I matted the upper to the lower and worked the action with the CH and bolt release. Im thinking this is a case closed. Everything sound gtg scottrh2?

Well I bought mine used so it had just a little of the sealant left on the screw. I just used blue locktite and tightened it down snug. I used the small end of the allen wrench and ran some function test on the bolt to make sure I didnt put any stress on the gas tube so I think im good to go. |
