Hi all,

I am pretty new to all of this and I have a question for all of you.  I have a buddy, in a different state, that has a couple of stripped lowers that he wants to get rid of and is offering to sell me one pretty cheap.  Is there any legal reason I should not do this?

Thanks

Might want to check your hometown forum regarding state laws etc, If you trust they guy and know there not stolen you should be gtg. If he ships them they will have to go through FFL

yea, if they are stolen!  No shouldn't have issues, just have them sent to an ffl (gunstore) for the transfer (which runs $15-25) around here in indy at least.

Thanks for the responses.  I do trust the guy and I am pretty sure they are not stolen but I don't think he is interested in doing a transfer for what ever reason.  I just want to make sure I do the right thing from my standpoint and if that means waiting a little longer to save up and get something different than I am fine with that.

On a side note, they are forged Olympic Arms receivers and I think he wants around $60 for one.  Is that a descent deal?

60 bucks isn't bad.

If you do a face to face transfer things should be ok, but you still may want to check local laws.  As a cover your own butt, treat it like any non-ffl firearm purchase.  I always bring/fill out two bills of sale, one for the seller, and one for the buyer.  That way at least you can say you had a good faith effort of buying something from someone.
