I have been searching this site and others for information regarding optional Grendel 6.5 for my existing Colt AR15 5.56.
I have read pros and cons. My question is, can a complete Grendel 6.5 upper, including bolt carrier group and all, be install on my existing Colt HBAR 5.56 AR15 without modifications? I heard that the 6.5 uses a different mag or that one could modify an existing 5.56 mag. I would prefer not to mess with my existing 5.56 mags so I would need to purchase 6.5 mags. Thanks for all the help. |

Thanks for all the help. Yes, you can drop in a complete 6.5 G upper on any mil spec AR 15 lower without issue. The 6.5 does indeed use different mags so you would not be able to use USGI mags but would need dedicated 65g mags. Unsure about modifiying alum mags but I do know grendel mags are steel. My guess is moding the USGIs for the 65 G is a no go though. |

Thanks for all the help. Just make sure your lower doesn't have a sear block - otherwise, you may have interferance issues with the bolt carrier. my $0.02 Sakic #19
