| I removed the Vortex FH from my new Noveske barrel and replaced it with a SJC Titan comp, as that is my competition gun. I'd like to try the Vortex on another gun. It appears that it doesn't use a crush or peel washer. So, I guess it just gets threaded on and tightened? |

The spiral design of the prongs "self tightens" the FH during firing. |

You can snug it up if you like, but it's not really necessary. I run them on 3 rifles and have never had one get "loose" - but it doesnt' hurt anything to tighten it down a little. Just keep in mind that without a crush washer, any torque you apply is bearing on the barrel/FH with no give. |

Hand tight is good enough. Mine has never loosened up. |
| I have a Vortex FH and the ID of the skirt is slightly smaller than the OD of the barrel. Therefore, the flash hider rests on the shoulder of the barrel -rather than the face of the crown. Should I install a crush washer or will the gap between the face of the crown and flash hider hinder accuracy? |

Just to clarify, this is only with the Vortex type FHs. |

acc blackout doesn't send a crush-washer either,, just a small bottle of rockset, put a few dabs on cleaned threads, tighten to 25# torque,,best i recall. i've installed several acc f/hs,, this method. Correct. I believe its 20# or 25#,but like you, I could be mistaken. With the radial splines of the Vortex, it self tightens. |
