I have a Colt HBAR Match AR that I bought from a buddy back in 94. The thing I've always disliked about it is the Front takedown pin is actually a "Receiver Pivot Pin" instead of a takedown pin like in the Military M16A2 I was issued. Is it possible to purchase a takedown pin to replace the front Pivot pin? For me it's much easier to clean the rifle if the upper and lower are completely detached –– and I realize that I can take a screwdriver to remove the front pivot pin, but if it's possible to swap out, I much prefer a takedown pin.
Thanks for any help. |

Can you post a picture of both sides of the receiver with the dust cover closed?
Is it the small pin with a screw head on one side or the large screw pin with a screw head on either side? The guns around that time came 1 of three ways , with a large hole with screw heads on either side. Which the receiver is not drilled for a regular take down pin it won't fit. Bushmaster and www.specializedarmament.com make large hole push pins. Or small pin with a screw head on one side. Some of these the lower receiver is drilled to take the take down pin and all you have to do is buy the parts. Other receivers are not drilled but can be to take the normal push pin. 1 picture of the right of the receiver with the dust cover closed I will be able to answer you question. |

Not always. My PWA is a standard small hole with detent, but does not have the weep hole. The hole for the spring + detent may not always have a weep hole as in your case. BUT if a weep hole is present then there will be a hole for the spring and detent––otherwise, there's just no purpose for the weep hole to be present... |

It looks like a big hole was drilled, it's definitely not the same size as the rear takedown pin hole. So does that eliminate my options in putting in a takedown pin?
