i heard once that certain cleaners will damage the finish on recievers. i just got a new upper assy, that matches my 16 yo preban lower almost perfect. just need to clean some grubyness off it. anyone see brakecleaner or other cleaners destroy the factory anodizing or other finishes.

I used non-clorinated brake cleaner....once.

stick with stuff made to clean guns, if you want a fast cleaner spray, use gun scrubber or something of the like.

not that I can tell.

I use naptha or lighter fluid.

BUT, before you do, put some on a cottom swab and test it on the inside of the receiver first.

if it's ok, use it.

gun scrubber is the same as brake cleaner, it will not damage the anodizing, it will take of the gray dry lube coating in the upper receiver which many mistake for anodizing-although i dont see how.
