I would like to put some flip up front sights on my quad rail instead of using the FSB. My question is do i need the FSB to secure the NON-freefloat rail in place?

Thanks

It is not recommended to place your sights on drop-in quad rails. They allow too much movement for maintaining a good zero.

It is a spikes .22 if that makes any difference.

You're going to need something there to hold the handguard cap in place. You can either do the poor mans gas block and just take a dremel and remove the top of the sight post or you can buy a flat top gas block. Either way you going to need something so that the handguard stays in place.

Now if you had a freefloat quad rail you would not need anything since the spikes .22 doesn't use the gas port.

I thought drop-in quad rail clamps on the barrel nut, hence eliminating rotational movements  Troy Industries says that their DI rails are "optic capable".  That's what they claim anyway.

Some are capable some are not.
