| I'm looking at to buy either patrolman's carbine or super light carbine. Im not sure which to go, the only difference i see from these two are that the patrolmans has m4 barrel, what difference does it make from a regular barrel to a m4 barrel? |

The difference between a regular barrel, and an M4 barrel is the slot cut into the front of the barrel to mount an m203. I have the patrolman's carbine and it is good to go. Make sure you either get an F marker front site, or the taller front site post. I'm sorry but i'm new to ar15 type rifles, but what do you mean by F marker front site? u mean front sight? |
| I would go with the super light. It will be touch and go if you need a taller post. In my experience with Bushie flat tops, (2), one carbine and one rifle, tax time deal, , I kept the same posts that came with the upper. Get the taller post anyway better to have it just in case. |
| I'd go with the Patrolman, the barrel will be a little thicker than the superlight and that will help keep the barrel a little cooler if you plan on putting alot of rounds through the barrel in a short period. And the point of impact from a heavier barrel shouldn't change as much as a light weight barrel when they heat up. The heavier barrel will add a little weight, but it won't be that bad. The F marked sight people are talking about refers to the height of the front sight base from the barrel. Most of the aftermarket back up iron sights(BUIS) are designed to be used with the taller F marked front sight. I think most Bushmasters use a shorter front sight base so when it is paired with a BUIS you need to get a taller front sight post in order to get the rifle zeroed in. If you plan on using the rear iron sight that comes with the rifle or are going to use just optics, than you don't need to worry about what type of front sight you have. |
