Can the LT-FUG be attached to a standard AR-15 handguard?

Yes, but you'll need something like this.

thanks a bunch.  Saw some other companies that had mounting rails for my situation but not Larue.  Is there any downside to attaching in this manner?  Heavier, ergonomics, aesthetics etc....?

It can rattle feel loose and is not as strong. But it will work and if you re happy with it have at it. Although a LaRue rail would go nice with the Fug.

That's awful short, I think the FUG only needs two rail slots so it should work.  I'll verify when I get home unless somebody else beats me to it.

Wrong answer.

I was wrong.  The FUG needs four rail slots.

ERGO makes 2", 4", 6", etc, aluminum (U.M.P.) and polymer rails for standard AR handguards and Magpul MOE handguards.

Get some MOE handguards in the mean time, they were great for my vfg and light.
I used this piece from bravo co on the bottom

Worked well.

Yea pretty much what he said. You will have a little wiggle on it from the handguards moving but overall it isn't that bad from my experience. I did this on my stag 6.8. Use to have standard handguards on it but I threw a set of magpul moes on because I had them sitting around.

Crappy pic for what you are looking for OP but don't have another close up that shows it.

IMO.. with standard hand guards those rail kits w/ VFG allow you to REALLY easily twist off your lower hand guard panel. That VFG gives just enough leverage to where if you are rough on it, you could pop out and damage your hand guard.

The magpul MOE handguard is a little beefier than the standard handguards, but you still run into that issue.

I went with a setup like that on CAR handguards and it was a fairly flimsy setup so I took it off and rolled without it until I got a railed hand guard.

Thanks. From what i'm hearing I'm better off keeping my Stag status quo.  Think I'm just gonna wait then and incorporate a VFG into my 1st build.

I used a GG&G rail attached to some factory Colt M4 double heatshield HG's, and it's a very solid setup. All I use is a VFG (Knight's) and a light. I wouldn't try to hang a bipod, or anything else heavy off of it. I guess it depends on the quality of the handguards, and how well they fit in the first place. As I said, mine were tight.

***BTW, there's a GG&G rail like mine on the EE right now for a decent price. It's not mine.
