I have a brand new cmmg m4 le I purchased. I went to swap out the grip for a magpul moe grip.
(by the way does not fit at all, I thought all lowers were made to the same specs) and lost the
spring that is seated in the grip to change the fire to safe selector. does anyone have a spare spring
or do I have to order a whole kit?

Most AR manufacturers will have small parts and peices for sale, but dont be suprised when shipping is going to many times more than the spring. And on the fit of the grip, it might be a little tight, but it sould fit fine. Might just need a little more elbow grease.

Get a magnet and see if you can find the one you lost first...

If your MOE or MIAD does not fit, use a heat gun to soften it a little and then slide it over the lower receiver mounting point. Use gloves to keep from toasting your fingers when you handle the hot plastic.

If you're squeamish about heat guns, use a small file to bevel the inside edges of the grip where it slides over the lower receiver mounting point. Then use a larger mill file to open up a little of the plastic inside the grip where it attaches to the lower receiver.

Even the mil-spec grips don't fit sometimes. TangoDown and the ERGO grips also have this problem from time to time –– doesn't matter which lower receiver it attaches to.

Had to do that with a MOE on a Bushy lower couple weeks ago, got it close and gently tapped it home with a soft mallet.

Dont use heat, just work it in slowly in different angles and it will go in.  I had to do that with my Colt Lower it just took a few more minutes.  If you want parts for your lower order a few other things such as a firing pin, extractor w/spring so it will be worth the shipping.

If you look hard at the Brownells site you will realise that the 3-pak of many small parts is only a few cents more than buying two at the single price.

You need one to replace the one you lost (we have all done that!) and one to keep as a spare (this insures that you will not lose another!)
The purpose of having the third is so you can be a hero with any guys you shoot with when one of them comes up missing the same part.

Don't it suck to have a $1000 +/- gun that doesn't work because you are waiting on a 47cent part (that you could have next day air shipped for $26)

BTDT!

The grip will fit, you just need to muscle it on, don't worry, magpul shit is tough, you won't hurt it.  I have 3 MIADs and 1 MOE, the MIADs fit very snug, but the MOE I had to really muscle to get it on a RRA lower.  It shaved a little plastic off in the process, but tha'ts what it needed to fit.

Get a rubber mallet and give the grip a couple whacks. As far as your spring situation goes...this is why I keep an entire LPK plus some extra springs on hand for each rifle.

You can never have too many spare parts.

Before ordering one online try checking with a local gunsmith or gunshop.  The smith should definitely have an extra laying around and some shops may.
