will a fh affect accuracy?  say a vortex where the gas can escape in all directions equally vs a a2 where the bottom is closed off?  would like to change if this is an issue as i will be doing mostly short range shooting but want to start to do some distance shooting too and if this is an issue, just rather take care of it for all of my ars at the same time.

also the comps too that vent gas to the sides and up top, but not out the bottom.  anybody do any accuracy testing for these types of results?

also, assuming nice crown on end of brl and shooting decent ammo so that is not an issue.

Nope, changing flash hiders won't affect accuracy. As long as the crown of the barrel is uniform you'd never see a difference.

Switching from one to the other could affect accuracy either way, however.  Your current flash hider isn't, because of it's design, adversely affecting accuracy.

Some discussion could be had about a closed bottom flash hider causing unequal air pressure at the muzzle, thus affecting accuracy, in a similar way to a non-uniformed crown.  However, as I recall, the larger effect a flash hider could  have may be on the barrel's harmonics.  Whether for better or for worse, one thing is probable.  A change will most likely affect point of impact.

As this is all just mental masturbation, consistency being the key, the answer to you question is ultimately "probably not".  There are a myriad of changes you can make that will better impact your accuracy before switching flash hiders.

i've read where several very reputable have stated that a vortex DOES add some accuracy,,,––––-i'm just saying "they said"...

So how does the crown effect accuarcy and the flash hider not when you cover the crown with a flash hider and thats where gasses exit?

For the record a poor flash hider can reduce accuracy slightly.  Most of the high end flash hiders will not.  Its not about "uneven" slots but the concentricity, and quality of the area of the hole in the middle of the flash hider and the gases flowing evenly that first mm or so... gas past the "crown" of your flash hider does not effect accuracy as the bullet is too far away from that gas for that to have much effect when the gas interacts with the brake, slots, etc.  Flash hiders can also create small POI shifts from one type to another.

A flash hider CANNOT improve accuracy via gas flow only and harmonic changes are rather random so it could aid or help on any given barrel.  It can only decrease accuracy via gas flow.  It can prevent a decrease and that looks like an improvement vs an A2... however that is NOT an improvement but rather an elimination of the reduction in acuracy caused by a sloppy A2.
