| I am glad to see that the prices of AR's are going down, When I drove by the local gun shop I saw a sign saying AR 15 699.00 I almost went off the road. I have no idea what kind they are but it almost seems worth buying one in case of a ban. On the other side I cant sell my gun that I built for what I put into it. Whats happening in your neck of the woods? BTW im in IL. |

Just got back from the local Gander Mountain. I never go there but in this case I took a chance on finding a set of Burris rings but as usual they had nothing in stock. As I was about to leave I saw a couple AR15 rifles in a case. Cheapest was 1295.00 for a simple no frills DPMS M4 style rifle. Disgusted, I headed for the door and then saw a display with .50 cal ammo cans for $19.99 each!. I hate that place and vow to never go back again.
On a brighter note, I did see a DPMS M4 style rifle for $795 at another local shop today. Considering it was $995 two months ago I guess prices are getting a bit better at some places. |

Central Maine sucks. Theres one mil-surp store that essentially has a monopoly on black rifle sales in the area, so they charge up the ass for everything. Oly's still going for $850, a flattop DPMS is $1200. If you wanna roll with the big boys and get a Colt... You might want to look into a loan.
The only other place nearby is pretty similar. They don't stock nearly as many AR's, and when they do they're mostly S&W. Which ain't bad, but I don't think these guys were ever known for reasonable prices. A Smitty will run you about the same as a Colt 6920 would have at a good dealer. But they did have a Del Ton there in Jan for $800 which was refreshing at the time. |

However, I would assume that whatever you put into a build, depending on the time frame you built it at, you may never recover that money. To me It's a hobby and not an investment. I will probably never get my money back that I spent, but I sure as hell enjoyed it the whole time. Money well spent. YMMV. |

Gun shops around here at least seem to be getting some stock in both parts and completes but prices are still high. I suspect prices will start coming down as I live in a state with 14+% unemployment thanks to Obama and Jenny. She promised "give me 5 more years and I will blow you away" She is way ahead of schedule on the blow us away part. I guess that is a promise kept. LOL

Black Rifle prices at the Westmoreland Gunshow seemed to be drifting back down; saw a couple minty SP-1s for less than $1300 (If I'd had the money, I would have one now), and some Colt Diemaco Gummint Carbines for $1195. Don't know if the market is flooded at last, or if everyone is just broke.
