I would like to hear how the older POF uppers or guns are holding up now that they have been around longer than any other piston AR15.

Thanks in advance

My upper, a P415-16-P9SX .223 one of the later first gen versions with the nitro carb. bbl. and chrome lined interior rides an LMT defender 2000 lower.  Optic is ACOG TA33R8 with YHM folding front and rear BUIS.
I am at 3,000 plus rounds (primarily a mix of XM193 55 gr., wolf 75 gr Hp, and Centurion 55gr FMJ with a few boxes Hornady 75gr TAP) with NO problems.  100% functional reliability from day one. Runs VERY clean compared to a DI gun.  There is slight wear, more of a polishing actually, from 5 to 7 o'clock in the lower receiver extension just to the left and right of the buffer pin. Just enough to remove the coating and show polished metal.

100 m. 10 round group accuracy varies, the XM193 prints at about 3", the Wolf 5" Centurion just over 1", TAP does .8 at best.  I'm sure this could be improved with a precision scope, trigger job, and a better shooter.

Out to 600 m the TA33 keeps me minute of bad guy on full size silhouettes.  I can keep most of a 30 round magazine in the torso from prone.  I love this optic!

With a Ciener conversion unit, I have also run a few thousand rounds of rimfire (Federal value pack from Walmart) through it with no non ammo related issues as well.  At 25 m it shoots a bit low but will hold a 1 to 1.5 " group.

I think piston ARs are an answer to a nonexistent problem.  I would not trade my DI AR for any piston system.  However, I like the luxury of having both.

I have a POF upper (18") that was deliver in July of 2007.  I've got 980 rounds through it according to my logs.  No issues.  It's my most accurate rifle as well.  Easily - and I mean EASILY sub-moa.  Even my custom GTS stainless recon barrel can't match it –– and the POF is chrome-lined!

It's also been 100% reliable.  I went hunting for coyote in northern New Hampshire this past winter.  Out in the freezing cold and snow for about 12 hours before I finally got a chance to take a shot.  I wasn't sure that the rifle would cycle, but it sure did.  I only needed one shot though, but it chambered the second one just fine.

I really like it –– it's a bit heavy though, but it's an 18" barrel with a gas-piston, so I guess that's understandable.
