| Back in 1999 my uncle bought 2,000 rounds of .223 ammo at a gun show. I bought 1,000 rounds from him and stored it away in a sealed ammo can. I had forgotten it until about a week ago. This ammo is in heat sealed clear plastic bags of 100 rounds each. the headstamp on the rounds has 3 markings on it...LC, 97, and what appears to be a circle with crosshair. Can anyone tell me if this is .556 or is it .223? If the description I've given is not enough info, how can I find out for sure exactly what it is? Sorry if this is a stupid question. |

Lake City 5.56 NATO dimension cases, the cases were originally made in 1997 but the ammo itself could be reloads or factory produced. The question nor the poster are stupid. What he said Ditto - ALWAYS smart to verify that you're using the correct ammo for a particular firearm. |
