I am new to AR's. Looking to purchase my first. Looking at two, a DPMS panther lite 16 and a Olympic plinker plus. Would like some honest opinions on both of these. I know they are not top of the line, but they meet my budget. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks |
| i too am new to the AR scene, but i have an Oly and havent had any problems with it. i know most guys here hate them, and swear by their colts or S&Ws ect, but i dont run mine anywhere near as hard as they do. Like i said, i dont have much experience, and these guys do, so read everything you can here and learn from them. On a side note, i would like to know why Olympic is so hated. |

Also realize that prices are starting to come down from the scare, so if your budget was set at the inflated price of those, you might be able to find something a step up from those or even get a better price than your planning on, neither are bad in my opinion, however I would not bet my life on them. A friend of mine bought an Olympic plinker plus whatever for near 1k, dont dont dont pay that much, but it has never had a hicup. Shop a round take your time, prices are probably gonna keep comin down (thats what i think at least), I know this is outa your range but to make my point, a colt model that were going for 1600's and up were being sold for 1225 shipped through a link someone posted here. The gun market is not a buyers market quite yet but every week prices are drifting south, your smart to be researching before buying, I know its hard to hold back from purchasing but it beats the hell out of buyers remorse! Besta luck on the hunt and be sure to save some for ammo!

| The more knowledge you have when you buy the more satisfied you will be in the long run. You won't second guess if what you picked was the right choice. Like other posters have stated the prices are heading south so you might be able to get more bang for your buck. IMHO |

Buy what you can afford. There are probably very few guys on here that have tried them all. I havent. I know what I have tried and what I have tried that has worked. Some are more accurate than others. If im gonna take up shooting paper, I would but the best of everything but I dont need the best of everything if the SHTF and I have no intention of shooting paper. I just want it to be dependable. You can buy dependability for $900 bucks.
