I finally secured a BCM BCG and CH for my BCM carbine upper and made it out to the range for evaluation.  I know a lot of people have been curious about the accuracy of these uppers, so here are my results from an admittedly informal testing session.

16'' carbine-length gas system upper with BCM double-shielded handguards with a Troy BUIS and a TA-31RCOA4 on a Bushy lower with an M-4 stock.  It was pretty gusty this morning, but I tried to time my shooting with the calmer periods.  I shot off sands bags from a bench.  I didn't bother to allow the barrel to cool completely between shots, so the barrel was basically warm throughout.

The first group from the BUIS was only 2'' low and 1'' to the right at 50 yards. Very nice.

Groups with the ACOG were 5 shots fired at 100 yards and were as follows:

Federal GM SMK 69gr.

First group:           2 5/8"
Second group:     1 13/16''

Remington SMK 69gr.

First group:          2 3/4''
Second group:     2 7/16''

Winchester Q3131A 2002 production (I've been very impressed with the accuracy of this stash of 2002 Q3131A in three different ARs over the years)

One group:         2 3/16''

The rest of the session was spent harassing bowling pins between 50 and 300 yards with 140 rounds of UMC.

Does that ACOG have magnification?

I'd expect to see smaller groups with a magnified optic... not that the level of accuracy isn't good, but of a bench with and acog...

I'd retest on a windless day.
