I was at my local gun shop today and he just got in a brand new LWRC M6A2 16" piston rifle.  It looks and feels like a really high quality gun.  He is going to hold it for me for a few days while I decide whether or not to buy it.  Price is msrp.

I don't know anything about these guns, so thought I would seek opinions here.

Thanks for any advice/comments.

If it's a piston system you are interested in getting, they seem to be one of the better ones out there. I have a 10.5" that I'm waiting on the tax stamp for and so far just handling the rifle I'm satisfied. I haven't shot a piston AR yet so I'm just as curios to see the differences in both.

Is it just me or are there a lot of these lately?

Still haven't shot mine either, waiting for optics to arrive which will hopefully be tomorrow.

I'm guessing this is at Gun Gallery?  Those are good guys over there, and that's an excellent rifle.  I don't think you will be disappointed.

I couldn't wait for my optic-  got my 14.7"  last week and i've shot it a few x's nearly every day- The iron sights it came with are allowing for 1" groups at 50 yrds and  that is A-O.K. considering my eyesight isn't the best.

I can certainly tell the difference in recoil from my DI bushy-  piston's the sh-eet!

They are very nice. I had an upper from them, was very happy with it, but sold it a while back. Might order a whole rifle here in a bit. You should be happy with it.

Thanks for the input.  This is at a local dealer that I use a lot, and he is actually giving me $200 off msrp.  He ordered this rifle six month ago and it just came in today.  As everyone knows, the market is crazy out there.

I have never had or fired a piston AR, but I am going to buy this one.  It has a lot of good stuff on it like Troy front and rear sights, rail covers, and MIAD grip.  Will pick it up tomorrow.  IF I can figure it out, I will try and post some pictures this weekend.  Don't know why as a rifle is a rifle, but we all like to look at pics.

Thanks again for the encouragement.

From what mild research I've done on them and the one I've seen/handled they are a really nice piece.  I want pick up as soon as I have an extra 1800.00 lying around .

I love mine.  About 750 rounds through it without malfunction.  About 200 rounds of that in some rough conditions.

I like mine better than I like my LMT, which is a lot.

Wow - nice pictures.  Makes the one I just brought home look pretty plain.

I picked it up this morning and spent too much time messing with the MIAD grip.  Tried to change the back strap, but it was impossible to remove the one that was on it.  I am not impressed with that product at all.  I took it off and put on a Hogue that I had.

I really like the rifle.  At least as much as one can before you shoot it.  Have to wait until next week for that.  It seems just a little heavier than my 6920, but not cumbersome at all.

I did put a Timney 4.5 lb trigger in it.  The stock trigger was OK, but pretty much like the rest of the milspec ones that I have tried.  I prefer a smoother lighter trigger, so that was an easy fix.

Will try to get some pictures up if I can.  My digital photography leaves a lot to be desired.  I guess I'm just an old 35mm single reflex guy.

Well, thanks for the information.  Unlike one poster, I do not know everything about everything, so find it necessary on occasion to seek information from others with more experience.  I do make my own decisions, but I prefer them to be informed ones whenever possible.

Did you remove the pin that was on the backstrap? I had a hard time removing my backstrap until I realized there was a pin holding it in place.  Also, how do you like the Timney?  I'm thinking about getting one as I'm not fond of the stock trigger.

Durango,

No, I did not remove the pin.  Looked at it and couldn't decide whether or not it needed to be removed.  Oh well, live and learn.  So much for crappy instructions.

I have not shot it with the Timney, but have done some dry firing.  It is a great trigger.  I have the 4.5 lb and would not want a lighter trigger unless you are using the gun strictly for targets.  It was the easiest to install of the few that I have done.  Don't even think about putting in a Jewell unless you really know how to install them.  It is a bear.

Anyway, I can highly recommend the Timney so far.  I have used their triggers in bolt action rifles over the years, and have always liked them.
