Hey guys,

I have a 20" that I want to put a bipod on.  I am keeping the standards rifle handguards on this, so what are my options for mounting a bi-pod.  I don't think I cared for the barrel mounts..

What other options do I have here?

Swivel Stud or Bayonet Lug are your best options.
You can get one that clamps directly to the barrel but it may scratch it.

I made one with a Uncle Mikes QD stud, common washer and common lock nut.  Put inside a regular HG and attached the Harris to it then tightened the whole thing.  Rock solid and cheap and can be completely removed.

Harris makes an adaptor for handguards.

HB2 - Flange Nut - Allows mounting of stud on hollow fore-ends $12.00

That looks nice but I was too cheap to buy one and pay shipping when I had the stud from a Rem 700P on hand.

So I take it this lays on the inside of the handguard, and the stud srews up through the bottom, keeping it tight...

I have a sling mount on the rifle.. any way to modify that to attach the bipod. Sorry if these are stupid questions, I just don't have any knowledge when it comes to bipods - never used on before

What do all of you guys out there with bipods use if you don't have rails.  I'm wanting to order this thing up...  what route should I go with?

I would go with the stud combo in the pix provided IF it would not crush my handguard liner when it was made tight.  My washer went between the guard and liner.
