| Today I zeroed my rifle in for an upcoming course (pre-zero required). I have zeroed the Aimpoint in using the improved battle zero (1 inch low at 25 yds., confirmed point of aim/point of impact at 50 yds). I hate to admit it but I was a bit unsure what is normal for zeroing the BUIS. I went ahead and set the BUIS point of aim/point of impact at 25 yds. Is this a pretty stand method or do I perhaps need to drop my BUIS an inch also? Thanks! |

Do not drop the BUIS one inch at 25 meters. You drop POI on the Aimpoint only because it needs to "on target" for every distance between 0-300m as it's not readily adjustable like your irons are. Once zero'd it doesn't change no matter what distance.
May I simply suggest you zero at 50yards with both cowitnessed and leave it there. What you describe in your post seems like an ugly mess of sorta FM 23 Army zero but not really. Remember up close shooting like 0-25 yards aim at the clavical notch for COM hits. Your sights are way higher over bore up close and hits are low unless you have some new aiming point until distances start to increase. |

May I please add that I know of the IBZ and did not mean to sound like you were confusing anything between the IBZ and Army M68 zeroing procedures but I still say it sounds strange when incorporating CCO sights.
Irons should be zeroed to cowitness with their optics is the short version IMHO. |

Quoted: Zeroing at 50y will keep the bullet within 2.5" of the Point of Aim out to aroudn 220yards (give or take depending on ammo used). That means with a center of mass hold on a beer can you will hit it every time (assuming you have the skill) no matter the distance out to 220y.Are you guys saying that zeroing at 50yds the POI will be nearly identical to 200yds? |

Are you guys saying that zeroing at 50yds the POI will be nearly identical to 200yds? Here we go again! Before it starts to get too confusing the IBZ method is 50 yard POI with a crossover/POI at 200 Meters, not Yards. Again that's 50 Yards out to 200 Meters. Look at the graphic that Molon posted. It shows the distant crossover at beyond 200 yards. |
