Is there anyone besides KAC and LMT that make enhanced bolts with two extractor springs?
I seem to remember another company making them a while ago, but can't seem to remember the name.

I have a RRA enhanced bolt. Or so the website I ordered it from claimed.

From Pete at Legal Transfers:

The Semi Carrier Now  has more meat around the Firing pin area. Like the M-16 Carrier

Rock River and Les Baer are both doing this now

on the Semi Auto Groups

Colt has been doing this but shaves off the rear

of the carrier all the way back like a half moon

Both Les Baer and Rock River semi carriers are

still full circle at rear of carrier to semi auto specs.

I'm guessing that the enhanced 'bolt' from RRA is rather an enhanced carrier.

I just ordered the bolt. Not the whole BCG. Im guessing that by upgrading the extractor on my bolt, RRA calls it an "enhanced bolt." It is not like the one above.

If I remember correctly, the company has 4 or 5 different versions, each with slightly different lug and extractor geometry.

Dual extractor springs honestly seems like a solution in search of a problem.

Get a quality bolt, put a black buffer, o-ring, and heavy-duty spring in there, and it'll extract anything.

That's probably what I'll end up doing, I'm just trying to figure out the name of this other company that made/makes them.

This is what I do with all of my bolts(sans o-ring until the spring wears), and it costs less than a happy meal

It's not the dual springs so much as the balanced extractor design (or closer to it anyway) that improves overall performance and reliability.  Just so happens that dual springs work well with the balanced extractor design.

By balanced extractor design, that means more mass behind the pivot pin so as to balance out the inertia of the extractor during bolt rotation/unlocking.

The reason that super-duper-extra extractor tension is needed in some ARs is due to the rapid unlocking rate/cyclic speed of short gas system configurations in combination with the standard unbalanced extractor.  Fast speed + unbalanced extractor means that the extractor is pushed away from engagement with the cartridge rim during bolt unlocking.  Lower the unlocking speed and the force is reduced; change to a balanced extractor design and it's eliminated.

That guy's info is way, way, way outdated.

Colt hasn't made half moon carriers in a long time.
