I have the oppurtunity to take possession of a NIB RRA Midlength Hbar 16' upper
One is a standard A2 carry handle model and one is a flatop model with a railed gas block .....I can choose only one! Which one would you take?

flattop all day long.  you can always add a carry handle to it if you wanted one later but you cant turn the A2 into a flattop.

Well, the A2 is ready to go with sights but I would still choose the A3.

BTW, I have a RRA mid-length and it is a great rifle. Might have to sell it though

sights are overrated  we took my dads flattop out before we had sights on it and looking down the top of the barrel I could hit the body target at 50yrd.  granted it was by no means precision shooting but we wanted to function test his rifle. I think i hit the target in the leg, arm, and shoulder.

I'd take the flat top.

I guess it is too early in the morning for sarcasm

Flattop.  More flexible.  If you like carry handles, you can put on the flat top and still keep your options open should you change your mind later down the road.

Went with the carry handle. I just like SIMPLE & classic.
