So I was at the range the other day, and my bolt got completely stuck in the chamber.  Had to pry it out with a flathead screwdriver.

When I got the bolt out, there was about 1/2 of a primer stuck to the bolt face, which was then stuck to the round that was in the chamber.

Weird thing was the round in the chamber looked like it had a pretty good primer strike, but it didnt go off.

Anyone ever have anything like that happen?  I was using XM193BK ammo.

Was there a flash hole between the primer pocket and the main body of the cartridge?  It almost sounds like the primer detonated and backed itself out of the primer pocket.

You're SOOOOOOO lucky.

That's EXACTLY how my AR KB'd(except I had a full primer stuck to the bolt face).
It basically fired out of battery due to the new excessive headspace.

It was some bosnian surplus imported about 10 years ago.

Personally I wouldn't shoot/trust that batch of xm193 anymore.

Just my opinion.

Well, that really sucks.

Looking at the unfired round that was stuck in the chamber, it seems like the piece of primer was definitely from the previous round, and was stuck to the bolt face right over the firing pin, because the impact on this round is huge compared to a normal primer strike.

Unfortunately, I have 2000 rounds of this XM193 here.  You guys really think the whole lot is unsafe to shoot?  It seems to me like its just a  backed out primer that ended up stuck to the bolt face.

Isn't there a few topics started on some batches of Fed XM193 having primer issues?

I tried searching but I couldnt find any primer issues.  Everyone seems to like the XM193.

Is it the AE 223 type in black boxes or the Federal 5.56mm ammo in the brown box? I remember the AE type had primer issues.

What kind of chamber do you have in this rifle?  5.56 or .223?

It was the 1000 round case of Federal XM193BK in the brown box.   I bought it from GTG tactical last month.  The rifle was a Noveske N4 light carbine, its a 5.56 chamber.

I found another more serious failure with Federal XM193 ammo on another Noveske upper from m4carbine(with pics).

Here is the link.

Lets hope this isn't going to be the norm.
