I placed an order for an 18 inch AR-15 upper receiver through cmmginc.com back in November 08.  I was originally told that there was a 2-3 month wait and they would not charge my card until they received all the parts and it was put into production (which would take another 3-4 weeks).  I've never had to wait 4 months for an order before but I figured I would have everything by the time the weather warmed up so no big deal.  I emailed them last week inquiring about the status of this order and after 9 days I finally got a response stating that the current wait time is 6 to 12 months!!!  I'm just wondering if anyone else is having this experience with them.  When I placed the order there was no mention of any backlog.  It was only after a few weeks that I noticed that my credit card had not been charged and when I asked why I was told about the 2-3 month backlog.  Obviously at this point I'm not going to cancel and get on the back of the line somewhere else, but had I been told 6-12 months back in November I would have looked elsewhere.  Just needed to vent I guess........anyone else want to join me?

Dude, welcome to the world of trying to purchase popular firearms or parts since President Obama was elected.

What rock have you been under?  Try to buy an upper, barrel, BCG, or charging handle from any reputable manufacturer or dealer right now.

Yeah it sucks, but everybody is in the same boat right now.

Good luck.  In the meantime, I hope you have other defensive firearms to rely on until you get the upper in question.

Yep, me too. I placed an order back in mid November with both Del-ton (for my lpk, stock, buffer tube and some mags) and CMMG (for my uppper assembly) and haven't recieved either of them yet. I contacted CMMG about 3-4 wks ago and was told possibly 3-4 weeks before my order would process. The possibly being a really big part of that. As far as I can tell we'll just have to sit back and wait. It's an epidemic everywhere...

CMMG has a nice little pop-up on their site that basically says that they are backlogged and don't even ask as to when they will be caught up. I ordered two .22LR mags from them last week and will probably have forgotten that I ordered them when the finally come in.

Bummer!

I order a Stag upper 2 weeks ago and they told me 20 to 25 weeks.  Everyone is jammed up.  No one was prepared for the unbelieveable demand.

My 14.5" barrel order is about to have a 7 month old birthday.

I think my issue is more with their lousy customer service.  I've dealt with dozens of different vendors in this industry, big and small, and I've almost always been more than satisfied with their customer service.  In fact I've been very impressed with the over the top helpfulness of many of them.  Overall, better customer service than any other industry I've ever dealt with.  But these guys have been the exception.  I've never seen an online retailer who basically tells their customers "Don't bother us!" right on their home page.  I know the backlog isn't their fault but when I'm expecting to see a "Your order is ready for shipment" email any day now and I'm informed that I could potentially have another 7 months to wait......it sucks.
Damn them and their quality firearms!

No, I've got the same thing.. and I had a issue with my CC to clear up with them. It took 5 days of calling them to even get through. And if you even get to the voicemail box it's always full and cannot take anymore messages. I've heard good stuff about their gear, but I'm not impressed by the customer service thus far either. Hope I get my stuff soon. its going on 5 months now....

There are several threads about this in the CMMG industry section.

Thanks KBAD.  Didn't think to check there.  I've actually never browsed that section.  Looks like everyone has the exact same story.  It probably doesn't help that I ordered an upper with a 18 inch stainless barrel.  Oh well.   Thanks Obama.

No problem, sometimes you just gotta know where to look.

To me CMMG utilizes deceptive business practices. Ok, so they are backlogged...no big deal....I'll just wait a few weeks.....a month at most. NOT! CMMG should have stopped taking orders quite a while ago. Their customer service is horrible. Thus, I went on gunsamerica and picked up an LMT. I could not be happier and their customer service is top notch. I think in comparison that the LMT is a superior product. Every other AR maker out there can provide you with some sort of an ETA except CMMG. You lost my business, way to go.

Seriously, in this time, with the insane demand for the AR platform, you thought your wait would only be a few weeks on an AR when factory orders from companies like RRA were 6 to 8 weeks years ago?  Do you not realize that CMMG is not some huge manufacturer and that just about everyone is building like mad to meet the demand for the AR?

I'm glad you got an LMT (from an outside source and not from a factory direct order) in a fashion you deemed timely and I truly hope you are happy with it but having read your post, I think that it will not make you happy as you will probably find some small flaw and even the vaunted LMT customer service will fall short of your expectations.

I ordered a MOD4SA lower from them with the CTR stock and JP single stage trigger (w/speed hammer) from them on 3/8. I was expecting to wait for a long time, but it came in today. I guess it's just an upper thing. I hope they get caught up with the uppers soon, as I also have an 18" upper ordered with them. I feel that the mad rush is slowing down a bit.

On a positive note I ordered a couple of .22LR mags from CMMG and they e-mailed me within two days of asking to give me a status.

I ordered three stripped barrels in December and received them in February, all exactly as ordered.  I'll do business with them again.

I ordered mine from Pete at Legal Transfers on January 5th and was quoted 18-20 weeks. It's been 12 weeks, 3 days. To be honest, a week or two has gone by a couple times (as well as shorter periods) where I had forgotten I even ordered it until I looked at my AR lower.

Got my .22LR mags from CMMG today. So far I'm very impressed. Look just like the standard USGI mags but made of heavy plastic. Seem very sturdy. I'll let you know how the perform tomorrow.
