the ejector and ejector spring...
If you can post pictures to show or explain any better, that might help to understand better.

It could be a very strong ejector spring.
Do you have a picture of the marks its making?

My guess would be a strong ejector spring as well.
Not releasing the shell easily.

It's the cock fag door ........ yep that's it, that's what's causing it to do that.

OP, one of my AR's has those exact same marks.
I could care less about the marks but should I be concerned that my ejector spring may be too strong?? I can't see it being a problem as long as it ejects reliably, right??

There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with your rifle.

My S+W, has the same marks! Nothing wrong. I did put a little piece of "fuzzy" side of velcro there. I am starting to reload my brass. NO dents in the brass now.

Thats good to know, becuase I just (1 hour ago) installed GTS/Dennys Guns Super Duty BCG and went to shoot it to make sure it works right in my gun, and it did the same dents in my brass. I was like WTF???? Good to know that its a non issue.

thanks for the advice! I wasn't worried about the marks on the rifle. It was the fact it was denting my brass.
The last mag I shot today the last empty casing actually bounced back into the locked open chamber
