How easy is it to change the standard hand guard for a quad rail on a S&W M&P15? Any special tools required?

Thanks

As long as the quad rail doesn't require special installation (FF), you don't need anything special.

Depends on the type of rail you're wanting to install. Some rails can be installed without using any tools at all while others require removing the delta ring. Check the manufacturer's info for the specific model you're looking at, especially if it's a free-floating barrel design.

I used the M4 Carbine RAS.  Easy to install and works well for me.

i put a UTG quad rail on my m&p with no problem, i just had a friend hold the collar down as i slid the new one in.
may need to use a flat head to pry the standard grips apart but shouldn't be too hard

There are great how-to videos on brownell's site for both FF and non installations.
