There has been a recent influx of these "New in Bag" LMT SOPMODs.  They are being sold here by mostly non-dealers for $150 - 175.  I've also seen the exact stock being sold on E*** for much less.  How can these be legitimate LMT stocks and still be so cheap?   These pics were borrowed from an E*** ad with a bid of $50.  How can they possibly be authentic?  Thoughts?

ETA: Mods - If this needs to be moved elsewhere... please do.

Thanks

Link to ad? Often times eBay sellers will start with a very low starting price because they know folks will bid again & again on hot items such as this SOPMOD making for a nice ending price.

just saw some on there for a starting bid of 9.99.

But they will not go for that.

The real question should be why are they so expensive to begin with? They are made of the same materials as other stocks.

Yup, I always thought those LMT stocks were ridiculously overpriced.
Same goes for most rail covers.

They are legit LMT stocks, the reason they appear to be going for somewhat cheaper prices is because they probably been "liberated" from Uncle Sam for lack of a better word by military personel or civilians working for the military. You can go on ebay and see Matech sights, Surefire M951 flashlights, LMT SOPMODSstock...ect all over there and a lot are from locations near military installations. oh yeah and I agree completely with the others above, LMT SOPMOD stocks are waaay overpriced for what they are, seems most just buy them for the "cool" factor, I myself use VLTOR stocks on my M4's

I actually buy them for the "tight" factor.  Can't stand a loose stock.

Could be stolen .gov property, or just Airsoft copies with lmt literature...

Meh, I never pay to much for them.

I got a complete set for $125 because it had a "scratch" on it... Still cant find it...and at one point it had a side sling adapter...

No it was not from a military source...or stolen, or what not...

One other thing.........These (if they are real LMTs) are generation 1 without the QD swivel hole!!!  I know that some think that these are overpriced, but, you get what you pay for!  I really like mine and between it and a 'standard' loose collapsible stock, there is no comparison.  The stock makes a great cheek weld and doesn't have any areas that might catch facial hair.

I've gotton so used to my SOPMODs that I'm hard pressed to be satisfied by anything else.  I prefer a tight stock.  So all mine are LMT with the exception of one CTR, which is also a tight stock.

FWIW - A friend bought one of these cheap LMTs and I compared it with mine.  They are identical with the exception of his patent number being in a slightly different location than mine.  The patent numbers were also identical.

I prefer the Vltor EMODs, but if you get one cheap, they are a good stock.

I bought one just like that, from the same seller. And it is real, its not a fake, and ita VERY tight on my LMT buffer tube. And thats the way I like it.

I paid $160 shipped, which I thought was a pretty good price. Though, as stated before, why on earth are they so expensive compared to others when its the same material?

None the less, i love mine
