My favorite local gun shop is family owned and one time I went in there they had a girl behind the counter who looked like she was about 12 years old.
She asked me if she could help me and I told her I wanted to look at an AR in the rack. She took said AR and retracted the bolt, locked it back, then checked the chamber before handing it to me. The way she did it, you would have thought she was a professional soldier. It was priceless! EDIT: Oh yeah, she got a sale too, because I bought it! |

What a great dad... this is the only time someone living through their child has seemed to be a good thing. Its kinda cheating because that poor little girl can't remove the handguards... Who takes off the handguards during a fieldstrip? And even if you did, no one can take off a set of handguards in under a minute. |

Buddy in the Army said the man above him (Sargaent I suppose?) always made them remove them and brush em out. |
When I was 16 I was at a recruiting session were they taught us to field strip a M-16. Then they gave us 4 weapons and had us race to see who could strip and reassemble the fastest. After everyone else was done I was still struggling with the hand guards. Everyone was making fun of me so I challenged them to take a crack at it. It ended up taking a Sgt. and a Cpl. with a pry tool to get the collar pulled back far enough to remove the guards.
