I'm going to a gun show on Saturday, with hopes of buying my first AR. I've been a long time lurker and have a good idea of what I'd like, but don't know what would be considered a good or fair price.
So what would be a good price for an LMT (this would be my first choice, don't care about variety), S&W MP15, Colt, or Bushmaster? Thanks for the help, I appreciate all the expertise here. |

I myself am looking for my first AR...going the DPMS route and i've found the 5.56 sportical for <900.
I've seen LMT ~ 1500, COLT a little higher, and bushmaster around 1300-1400 My buddy's got a S&W M&P15T and its a great gun but a little more than i want to drop on my FIRST one...he got it for around 1300 I wouldn't wait too long tho |

Yeah, I'm planning on putting on optics. Looking forward to dressing it up with lots of accessories!
I'm willing to spend around $1300, I just don't want to spend too much on something that could be cheaper. I've heard that gun shows still had pretty high jacked up prices. |

It sounds like you've done some homework, but my advice is to not overlook the accessories and know the prices on them. My local fun store had a S&W MP15 on sale for like $1300, but it came with a Troy rail and front and rear BUIS and some other stuff thrown into the package. You might find a complete M4 for <$900, but then spend another few hundred in upgrades that make it not as good a deal as you might've thought.
FWIW...YMMV |
