i have alot of friends asking me the difference between the
m16,
m4,
and the a1-a4.  
someone wanna give me a quick definition to each so i can clarify them?
i know a little about a little, but not all of them together.

Mil M16= 20" barrel, 3rd burst (A1 or A4) or full auto (A1 or A3), flat top (A4) or fixed carry handle (either A1, A2 or A3), US mil versions have fixed stock
Mil M4= 14.5" barrel with M203 notch on barrel forward of the FSB & aft of the muzzle, 3rd burst (M4) or full auto (M4A1), flat top or fixed carry handle, collapsible stock

The civ AR market varies with it's use of terminology, i.e., one company may call their flat top carbines A3 or A4 but don't let that confuse you with the mil nomenclature mentioned above.
